FAQ(Frequently Asked Questions)
We hope that you find all the answers to any questions you may have on this page. If you require any additional information, please feel free to contact us at 352-871-7244 or via email at firstname.lastname@example.org. We look forward to seeing you in class!
Do I need to bring a partner?
No, a partner is not required to take any of our classes. Partner dancing classes are taught so that we rotate individuals every few minutes – this is a great way to meet new people and learn to dance with a variety of leads and follows.
Can I start taking classes at any time?
Yes, our classes are designed so that you can drop in and begin whenever you’d like. Just arrive at the studio and you are all set!
If I bring my own partner, can I only dance with them during the class?
Yes, you can definitely dance with your partner; we ask that you please let your instructor know so that he/she is aware. Please bear in mind that although it may feel more comfortable to dance with the same person all the time, we strongly believe that dancing with others will help your dance excel at a more rapid pace.
What should I wear to class?
Salsa and Bachata: Most students come to class dressed casually e.g. jeans, t-shirts. Some of our students attend classes after work and are dressed in business attire. Feel free to dress in a comfortable manner with light clothing as you do get a workout from our classes.
What shoes should I wear?
Salsa and Bachata: Most students come to class dressed casually e.g. jeans, t-shirts, tights. Feel free to dress in a comfortable manner with light clothing as you do get a workout from out classes.
You do not need to purchase special dance shoes for your first set of lessons. However, dance shoes with leather or suede bottoms are preferred for these classes. If you do not own dance shoes, we recommend that men wear dress shoes that are not loose and ladies wear a secure and comfortable heeled shoe. It is extremely important that the shoes you wear will not come off during class as this poses a safety hazard for you, as well as others in the class. Please note that flip-flops or shoes without a back are not allowed for safety purposes.
*Dance shoes are conveniently sold at our location. Feel free to stop in anytime and grab a pair!
How long will it take me to learn?
How fast you learn is solely up to the individual. Some people may learn faster than others, but you cannot allow this to be a measure of your skill level. Improvement in your dance will depend on many factors including your practice time, determination, and class attendance. There will always be a class at your level so there is no need to feel rushed.
What if I can’t keep up?
Most of our students find our class pace just right. However, everyone learns at a different pace. If you find the class difficult, please do not hesitate in asking questions during class so that the instructor can assist you. Additionally, always remember that practice doesn’t end at the end of class. Outings and socials are a great way to practice, but one-on-one time with an instructor can also be extremely helpful. Private lessons are a great option to assist you in understanding and executing the movements covered in the classes as well as improving your technique.
Where can I practice what I’ve learned?
Baila Caliente holds open practice Monday and Wednesday from 9:30pm-10:00pm. We also hold monthly socials for everyone to come out for social dancing and practice.
How long are the group classes?
Group classes are 60 minutes. Some exceptions will apply to workshops and special events.
What are private lessons?
Private lessons are personal classes specifically catered to the student(s). Private classes are usually one instructor per student or per couple. We also offer private lessons for small groups interested in learning privately. Please ask us about our “small group privates” for further details.
What payment methods are accepted?
We accept cash, personal checks, and credit cards (Visa, Master Card, American Express and Discover).
Can I pay as I go?
Yes, we do offer drop-in classes that allow you to pay as you go. However, you should ask us about our membership packages to take advantage of all the benefits and discounts of being a member.
What is your cancellation policy for group classes and private lessons?
All early check-in sales for group classes are final. Private lessons need to be cancelled at least 24 hours in advance; otherwise, no credits or refunds will be issued.
Do you offer gift certificates?
